Down Below

Hi all,

The article just posted below will make it on to a permanent page here under the Flotilla pages, but I wanted to make sure the info got posted as soon as I'd typed it up.

Also, I've got to update the Ship Roster to show which vessels have been destroyed, and which ones damaged after our last encounter with the Klingons.

Thanks.

U.S.S. Excalibur - Crew Roster

Submitted by Trevor B.:

U.S.S. Excalibur – Crew Roster
• Captain – Captain Christopher Blake
• First Officer – Lieutenant Commander Maria Sanchez
• Senior Science Officer – Lieutenant Sandira Vashenka
• Senior Communications Officer – Ensign Sigrid Thursen
• Chief Engineer – Lieutenant Michael Akumi
• Senior Helmsman – Lieutenant Alban D’Wara
• Chief Security Officer – Lieutenant Sudek
• Chief Medical Officer – Lieutenant Commander Joseph TwoRivers

Captain Christopher Blake:

• A distinguished looking man in his mid fifties, Captain Chris Blake has an aura of quiet, understated authority. His dark brown hair is just beginning to show signs of grey at the temples. Once a paragon of physical fitness, he now carries a bit more weight than he used to, though still within acceptable Federation standards.
• Captain Blake fills his position with a quiet dignity, calmly encouraging his crew and dealing out reprimands with an understanding and fairness that takes away most of the sting. He is more concerned with seeing his crew learn from their mistakes then with berating them for their errors. Because of this, his crew respects him and works hard to win his approval.
• Captain Blake commanded the U.S.S. Yorktown for nearly twenty years until being reassigned to the newly commissioned U.S.S. Excalibur when the Yorktown was decommissioned. He is a veteran of several altercations involving both the Romulans and the Klingons. He harbours a strong distain for Klingons that goes beyond normal resentment towards a national enemy. Although some within the Federation speculate that Captain Blake will seek retirement at the completion of his current mission, others feel he has no such intentions.

Lieutenant Commander Maria Sanchez – First Officer
• A diminutive woman of Hispanic background, First Officer Sanchez has olive skin, long curly black hair, and dark brown eyes. Despite her fiery personality, which manifests most obviously when leading away missions, she maintains an outward disposition of dispassionate efficiency when in the presence of her Captain.
• Sanchez has enough experience under her belt to command a star ship in her own right. She prefers to serve as first officer, however, as she feels somewhat insecure about her ability to assume total responsibility for a star ship crew. Possessed of a volatile nature with mercurial shifts of temper from extreme agitation and excitement to intense moodiness, she strives to keep herself under control at all times when performing bridge duties. In her off hours, however, she leads the crew in carousing.
• First Officer Sanchez has served with Captain Blake for five years on the U.S.S Yorktown. She has seen enough combat against Klingons and other Federation enemies to know that she detests battle of all kinds. She prefers missions of exploration and discovery to military forays. While many of her colleagues have urged her to apply for a command post, she has thus far refused any further promotion.

More on the way

Upcomming additions to this site will include detailed accounts of the ongoing campaigns in narrative form. (That means I've got some serious writing to do.)

Trevor has given me the Officers' Roster for the U.S.S. Excalibur, as well as their Captain's background, so I'll be adding that to the Flotilla pages.

Frankly, I think that's enough for now.

If you have any questions about our campaing or the Star Trek Combat system, don't hesitate to email me (my address should be found under my profile on the side of this page), or leave comments with one of these articles.

Change is good?

Well, you may or may not have noticed that my links have changed. I just found out that my provider is going to force all of it's users to sign up for Geocities instead of giving us space on their own servers. This upset me a bit at first. After all, the web space is supposed to be part of my Internet Service. Anyone can sign up for Geocities for free....

What's worse, it means that you'll be subjected to those stupid side adds that Geocities and Yahoo! are famous for. The site will practically scream out, "Hey look, another really amateur web builder who can't even affor the $5 US per month to get basic server space!!!!"

On the bright side, I'm keeping this page with it's own domain of starshipcombat.blogspot.com. Also, Geocities might offer me more space, I'm not sure. I've got to check out their 'add on' section as well.... don't know what I can add yet...

Point is, if you've got any favourites or links to other parts of the site, you might want to change them. The links on this page have already been changed.

Captain's Log

The Starskimmer's Captain's log is up. Credits go to Steve for writing it (it is his character after all....) and myself for a little editing and story backfilling.

I'd love to get your feedback on this, or any other writing. There's no comment's button under the Captain's log, so if you've got something to add, just add it to the comments for this post.

Enjoy.

Always Refresh This Page

Hey everyone. If you're seeing this entry, chances are I don't have to remind you to refresh this site (F5 on most browsers). I am constantly working on this, as well as my other Blog pages.

In this case, I've changed the links on the sidebar a little bit, and even updated one of the links in the article below this one. I'm working on adding more and more to the STCS: Tales of the Starskimmer pages. The next big step will be the captain's logs. Some will be in the form of actual logs, while other articles will simply fill in the story around them. The link is already there without any content, so please be patient. There should be something there by the end of this evening.

STCS: Tales of the Starskimmer

I've got the first article for the Orion site ready. I've decided to use the same template as the main STCS site, but have changed the title and content. Check out Tales of the Starskimmer!

Expect more articles to come. We've managed to get some of Cpt. Smith's logs to post online.

Updates

Yup, the server was back up and running by Sunday. No one actually told me what went wrong.

Here's a couple of 3D pics I did up quick today.
The first is the Defiant responding to DS9's report of a couple of Caradassian Ships.

The second is one of Cardassia's out-stations, Partok Nor.

Server Trouble

The server that hosts the Roster of the 8th Flotilla seems to be down this evening. Hopefully that will change sometime tomorow.
